In his first press conference at the capital New Delhi after being co-opted as Honorary Secretary of the All India Chess Federation, Mr D.V.Sundar said he would not take a single paise as honorarium from the All India Chess Federation.
D.V.Sundar was co-opted by AICF President N.Srinivasan as Secretary of the All India Chess Federation (AICF) on February 3, 2005 after the Madras High Court restrained P.T.Ummer Koya from acting as Secretary of the AICF and also Vice President of FIDE.
Mr Sundar is also Vice President of the AICF and holds the additional responsibility of Honorary Secretary until the next elections.
In the meet-the-press on Monday (April 4), Sundar announced the recognition received from FIDE after the four member delegation headed by Sundar met the FIDE Continental President for Aisa, Khalifa Mohammad AL-Hitmi at Doha, Qatar on March 30.

At the press conference, Sundar said he was for scrapping the Rs.500 AICF Registration annual fee levied on all players. The 10% tax on players prize money has already been removed. The Indian players' Special entry fee to FIDE competitions will be reduced from Rs.15,000 to Rs.8,000. All these changes will be implemented as fast as possible subject to the court permitting us to do, said Sundar
Those who represent India in major international championships like Olympiads will be sent wearing designed blazers and accompanied by good escorts, added Sundar. Indian chess is looking for exciting times ahead under a new clean yet experienced administration
Included among the big list of National and International Championships announced for 2005 are the National Women "A" starting from April 23 at Bangalore, the Asian Individual Championship at Bangalore from July 5-15 and the Commonwealth Championship at Mumbai from July 17 – 27.
D.V.Sundar, who is Chennai-based, had been involved in chess events for almost three decades. He is the Sports Officer of the Indian Bank handling among all sports, a premier division football team. He has been manager for Viswanathan Anand and Dibyendu Barua at the Biel Interzonals in 1993 and also manager of the Indian Olympiad team at Calvia 2004. 1991.
