High Court Makes `Absolute' Interim Injunction Against Koya

The Madras High Court on Aug 9, confirmed by making absolute the Interim Injunction passed against P.T.Ummer Koya on January 31, 2005. The state chess associations of Delhi, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu had approached the court to remove P.T.Ummer Koya, from the post of Secretary, AICF for his various acts of misfeasance and malfeasance in January 2005.

The Court has also passed orders to the President of the AICF to hold elections with the help of D.V.Sundar (Secretary) and N.K.Miskra (Treasurer). Mr Justice D.Murugesan who issued the orders also appointed retired Judge Mr A.K.Rajan as observer for the proposed General Body Meeting. The verdict confirming the earlier injunction is a blow to P.T.Ummer Koya, former Secretary of AICF and his group. The Judge directed the General Body to take decisions about the alleged misfeasance and malfeasance.
