Indian Bank - Vel's 19th National Under-9 Boys & Girls Chess Championship

From 4th June to 13th June 2005
Venue: The Championship we be held at Vels College of Arts & Science, Velan Nagar, East Pallavaram, Chennai 600043. The venue is KM 5 from Chennai airport. From the Airport, proceed KM 3 south along the GST Road till you come to the Pallavaram Bus Stand and Electric Train Station. Just after that, take a left turn, eastward, cross the level crossing and proceed straight to the College. The college is 2 KM from the GST road. On the eastern side of the level crossing autorickshaws and share auto-rickshaws are available to go to Vel's College.
Reception: Those who inform us of their arrival details will be met on arrival at Chennai Central or Egmore and taken to the venue. Others may go by train or bus to Pallavaram station and hire autorickshaws to reach the college. Take City bus 18A from within Chennai Central compound and alight at Pallavaram Bus Stand. This bus goes from Central to
Tambaram.

Lodging:
Free hostel accommodation will be provided at the venue to players and one manager of each affiliated member of the AICF from 4th to 13th June 2005. All accompanying persons including parents and guardians will have to make their own arrangements for their stay. Lodging for accompanying persons can be arranged at the hostel on payment. Those who want to avail this facility shall send the amount on or before 28 May 2005. Check this amount from: 09444215703. All rooms have four cots. Bring your own bedding. Bedding maybe available on payment. There are a variety of hotels in Pallavaram on the GST Road.

Age Limit:
Players born on or after 01-01-1996 are eligible to participate. Certificates in proof of age must be sent by players along with the entry fee.
If any doubt arises about the claimed age of a player, the Tournament Committee has the right to refer the player during the championship for a due evaluation of age by competent medical experts. A player, if declared over-age by such experts shall not continue in the championship and shall be reported to the AICF.
Eligibility:
a) AICF registration is a must for all participants.
b) Subject to age limit, every affiliated State Association of AICF is entitled to send two players to each category.
c) Players who finished 1st to 4th in the 18th National Under-9 Boys & Girls Chess Championship are eligible to participate as seeded players in the same category subject to age stipulation.

d) Players who finished 1st and 2nd in the 18th National Under-7 Boys & Girls Chess Championship are eligible to participate as seeded players in under-9 Boys & Girls respectively.
Boys: 1.Shardul Gagare (Mah) and 2. C.H.Mohineesh (AP):
Girls: 1.B.Prathyusha (AP) and Navya Vyshnavi (AP).
e) Players who finished 1st and 2nd in the 18th National Under-9 Girls Chess Championship are eligible to participate as seeded players in the Under-9 Boys Championship subject to age stipulation.
f) Player who finished 1st in the last National Under-7 Girls Chess Championship is eligible to participate as seeded player in Under-9 Boys.
g) The AICF Secretary has a discretionary seat in each category of the Championship.
h) Any player who remits the prescribed Special entry Fee (Rs.2000/-).
i) In each category, the host Chess Association is entitled to one additional entry. In the event of an odd entry, they are also entitled to add one more player in each category to make the total number of players an even number.
j) In addition to the above AICF recognized Chess Academies are entitled to field one player (one boy and one girl) in each category.

There will be 50% concession in the entry fee for participants from North Eastern States.
All entries including Special entries should come through the concerned State Association/ Affiliated unit of the AICF. Tie Break:
The Progressive Scores tie-break rules will be applied for all places and cash prizes will be given accordingly. Prizes will not be shared. In case Progressive Scores are also equal, lots will be drawn to decide. System of Play:
The Championship will be played as per FIDE laws of chess. Pairings will be as per FIDE Swiss Rules. Totally 11 rounds shall be played. Session:
If digital clocks are used, the time control is 90 minutes for each player for the entire game with 30 seconds increment per move from move one. In the absence of digital clocks, the time allotted shall be 40 moves in 90 minutes and for the remaining moves 30 minutes each. Changes in the schedules shall be announced by the Chief Arbiter. Tie Break:
The Progressive Score tie-break rules will be applied. Protest:
Protest against the decision of the Chief Arbiter or his Deputies, if any, shall be submitted to the Chief Arbiter in writing with a protest fee of Rs.200/- in each case, within one hour of the occurrence of the incident. Appeals Committee:
Before commencement of the Championship, a 5-member committee of appeal with two reserves will be formed from amongst senior participants and officials present at the Managers meeting to be held on the inaugural day. All the five members and reserves will be from different states. No member of the committee can vote on a dispute in which a player from his own unit is involved and in such case the reserve member(s) shall take his/their place. Chess Clock:
Each State association/Affiliate should bring one chess clock for every two participants. Disqualification:
No participant shall leave the venue before the prize distribution function without the permission of the Chief Arbiter. Participants disregarding this rule are liable to be suspended for one year. Registration of Players:
All players who participate in the National Championships should get their names registered. Registration forms are available at the venue on payment of Rs.500/- No unregistered players will be entitled to participate in this Championship. Arrears:
All arrears of affiliation fee/tournament fee including those of the current year (2005-2006) must be paid by the affiliated Associations at the time of submitting the entries. Otherwise the entries are liable to be rejected. FOR FURTHER DETAILS CONTACT:
