Chandran finishes third, achieves second GM norm |

International Master P.Magesh Chandran made his second Grandmaster norm at the
Sixth International Open Championship of Montenegro in Bar which is in Serbia Herzegovina, former Yugoslavia. The tournament was held from March 4 to 12, 2005 attracting 118 players from 13 countries including several Central European grandmasters.
The tournament was won jointly by grandmasters Ivan Ivanisevic and Branko Damljanovic, both of the host country. They scored 7 points in a 9-round Swiss.
Magesh scored 6.5 points and tied for the third
place.
Magesh 21, now a student at the University of Texas in Dallas, finished half a point behind the joint winners to secure his second GM norm. His first GM norm was obtained when he won the Asian Junior Championship at Colombo in 2003.
