World champion Viswanathan Anand blanked Shakhriyar Mamedyarov of Azerbaijan 2-0 in the finals to win the Corsica Masters another time on October 31, 2011. The 15th edition had a Swiss FIDE Rated competition for 184-player Open section which was won by Chennai's Krishnan Sasikiran with 7.5/9. Sasikiran and 13 others qualified for the 16-player knock out section for which Anand and Mamedyarov were seeded. On course to the title, Anand had defeated Sasikiran in the semifinals. The event had a Euro 95,000 prize fund.
