 N.Srinath (B-12) of Chennai and Sahaj Grover (B-10) of Delhi fortified their lead to a full point at the end of the eighth round in the World Youth Chess Festivals in Belfort, France on July 25.
India suffered a major setback when top seed WGM Dronavalli Harika and Saheli Nath lost in the top two boards of the Girls 16 section. After this defeat, they only have medal chances. Title has eluded them.
Srinath beat Chennai team-mate S.P.Sethuraman (6) in a top board clash to reach 7.5 points. All other Indians in this section won. Negi (6), V.A.V.Rajesh (6.5) and R.R.Prasanna (5) won their eighth round games.
 Y.Sandeep (B-14), K.Sai Nirupama (G-10) and P.Lakshmi Sahiti (G-12) clawed back to second spot with 6.5/8 while I.Ramya Krishna (G-14) also went to second spot with 6/8.
Sahaj Grover shed a draw in round eight to Daniel Naroditsky to lead the B-10 section by a full point with 7.5/8. Three rounds remain to be played and hereafter there will be one round per day.
