 N.Srinath (6.5/7) moved into sole lead mid-way through Monday's seventh round in the World Youth Championship. Sahaj Grover of Delhi is moving from strength to strength in the Boys-10 section which he is leading with maximum seven points.
Srinath's victory against overnight leader Sanan Sjugirov with the black pieces was the highlight of the Indian performance in the morning session of July 25. Indians girls, K.Sai Nirupama (G-10) and I.Ramya Krishna (G-14) failed in two top board encounters by losing.
Srinath's victory has left him half a point ahead of the 124-player section with 6.5. S.P.Sethuraman is in second place with six points. Our top seed IM Parimarjan Negi dropped a draw and is perhaps out of title contention having lost two points already. However, two Chennai players, Srinath and Sethuraman will face each other in the top board game of the eighth round.
Y.Sandeep (G-14) who was in a three way tie for the top place with 5.5/6 at the start of this round, lost and fell back after the seventh round. Four rounds remain to be played.
