Indians continued to impress in the World Youth Chess Festival. Seven of our players won both, fifth and sixth rounds on Saturday in the World Youth Chess Festival at Belfort, France.
Sahaj Grover (Boys-10) is leading by half a point posting a big 6/6 score. Y.Sandeep (Boys-14) drew Boychev Mariyan in round six and is jointly leading with 5.5/6. Kotepalli Sai Nirupama (Girls-10) was one of the seven players who won both games to join Sophie Aflalo in the lead with 5.5/6.
In the Boys-12 section, V.A.V.Rajesh (4.5/6) lost to Sanan Sjugirov (6/6) in a top board clash. That left N.Srinath to stay in clear second position on 5.5 after winning both his games on Saturday.
Saheli Nath and Mary Ann Gomes regained lost ground with double wins in the Girls-16 section to reach five and four points. In this section, our top seed Harika is one point below leaders with 4.5 points.
Harika drew both games on Saturday and is undefeated so far. Others who won two games are Sethuraman (B-12), I.Ramya Krishna (G-14) who moved to 5/6 and
Lakshmi Sahiti (G-12) who went to 4.5. Sunday is a free day. Five rounds remain. Two rounds are slated for Monday.
