World Youth Chess Festival, Belfort, France - India Impresses In Boys 12 & Girls 16 Section - By Arvind Aaron

After two rounds, Indians have started well in general and exceptionally well in the Boys U-12 and Girls U-16 sections. In the Boys U-12 section, four of our players including top seed Parimarjan Negi of Delhi are leading with two full points. It is still early days though as 22 other players also also on the same points group after Wednesday's second round. Sad for India, Negi will face Chennai's N.Srinath in the top table round three game and only one of them can win. Other two Indian leaders in that section are Tamil Nadu's S.P.Sethuraman and V.A.V.Rajesh.

Top seed Dronavalli Harika (Guntur) and Saheli Nath (Kolkata) are leading the girls-16 section with two full points and are among the 18 leaders. Asian U-16 champion Mary Ann Gomes has dropped half a point in this section and is on 1.5. I.Ramya Krishna (AP) who is also the highest rated in the Girls U-14 section has also won both her games. There are still nine more rounds left.
