WORLD YOUTH UNDER-16 CHESS OLYMPIAD, 2005 - Tournament Details

Invitation

The All India Chess Federation (AICF) has the pleasure of inviting your Chess Federation to participate in the WORLD YOUTH UNDER-16 CHESS OLYMPIAD, 2005 organised by AICF at Chennai, India from 21st December to 29th December (Departure) 2005. The Championship is conducted under the auspices of the Federation Internationale Des Echecs (FIDE).

The Venue and Schedule

The World Youth Under-16 Chess Olympiad will be conducted, at Chennai, INDIA from 21st December (Arrival) to 29th December (Departure) according to the following schedule.

22nd December	Round 1	From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
23rd December	Round 2	From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
23rd December	Round 3	From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
24th December	Round 4	From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
24th December	Round 5	From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
25th December	Free Day
26th December	Round 6	From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
26th December	Round 7	From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
27th December	Round 8	From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
27th December	Round 9	From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
28th December	Round 10 & Closing Ceremony
29th December	Departure

Prizes

Winners of the First, Second and Third places in the Championships (Boys & Girls) will be awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze medals respectively. Board prizes will also be awarded in the form of medals.

Tournament Regulations

The tournament will be held in accordance with FIDE regulations (D.V1.02)

1.TOURNAMENT FORMAT: The tournament shall be run on a 10 Round Swiss. Each match between teams will be conducted over 4 boards.

2.TIME CONTROL: 90 minutes to finish with 30 seconds increment from move 1.

Age limit

Entitled to participate in this Chess Olympiad are players who shall not have reached the age of 16, by 1st January 2005, (Date of Birth -January 1st, 1989 and after).

Participation

Subject to the restriction regarding age, every Federation affiliated to FIDE is entitled to send a team of 4 players plus one reserve player and one official. The Organising Federation can participate with two teams and can add a third team in the event of the total number of entries being odd. 

The Organisers will provide free board and lodging to a team of 4 players and the official, for nine days from 21st December to 29th December. The reserve player shall be charged US$50 per day for hospitality inclusive of 3 meals. Those who arrive before the arrival date and or overstay beyond the departure date will also be charged according to the normal tariff.

Entry fee of SFR 200 per team should be paid to FIDE.

Additional teams from the same Federation will be allowed subject to the following conditions.

1.They should pay the Normal Entry fee of SFR 200 to FIDE 

2.Registration fee of US $ 100 per person should be paid to the Organizers

3.Each member of the additional teams should pay their board & lodging expenses.

Board & Lodging

All participants without exception must stay and dine at the official hotels arranged by the Organisers

The reserve player in the main team and each member of the additional teams and each accompanying person should pay USD 50 per day for sharing a double room with three meals. The tariff for single room with three meals is USD 70 per day.

Registration

Registration of teams shall be made in the official Registration Forms and the Registration Forms shall be submitted to All India Chess Federation to be received latest by 15 November 2005. Acceptance of entries received after that date will be at the discretion of the Organizers and a surcharge of US $ 200 will be imposed on such entries if accepted.

Registration Fee

Every member of the team should pay to the Organisers a Registration fee of USD 100 each on or before 15th November 2005 for confirmation of registration.

Travelling Expenses 

According to the FIDE Regulation, travelling expenses shall be borne by the participating Federations. 

Airport Transfers

Organizers will arrange to pick and drop the Participants at the Chennai Airport, if advance information is given.

Payments

All payments due to the Organisers on account of Entry fee, registration fee, boarding and lodging expenses must be paid in advance and proof thereof (bank acknowledgment ) must be sent along with the registration forms. Defaulters will be debarred.

Entry Visas

Countries that require entry visas to India must request their respective Indian Diplomatic Missions. AICF will be sending invitation to all eligible participants. 

All participants must intimate their travel details to the All India Chess Federation sufficiently in advance.
