By Arvind Aaron - Press Officer
The All India Chess Federation at its Central Council
meeting on December 26, 2006 at Chennai slapped a ten year
ban on Umakant Sharma of Southern Railway. Umakant was
found with a hidden blue tooth device during the AIR
MARSHAL SUBROTO Fide rating tournament at Delhi recently.
The cap and device were exhibited at the meeting by
Mr.Bharat Singh Chauhan, Treasurer - AICF.
In another decision, on a complaint from GM.Dibyendu Barua,
Chess Players Association of India, the AICF will form a
committee under the Chairmanship of Mr.R.M.Dongre, Vice
President to look into the alleged external help that
International Master D.P.Singh could be receiving at the
Board.
On the question of donor entries of Indians in World and
Asian age group championships, the AICF decided to limit
that number to a merit based system.
About over aged players, AICF decided that all complaints
and protests in National Championships should be lodged
latest at the end of the Third round.
The National "B" for 2007 and 2008 have been allotted to
Tamil Nadu and Goa.
