Mr.Dongre, Treasurer AICF and
Chairman Maharashtra ChessAssociation wanted the Central Council
to regulate the participation of Indian players in FIDE rated
round robin tournaments held abroad wherein no FIDE norms are
given. He brought to the attention of the members that many
players from India have gone to Hungary recently to participate
in such tournaments, where the entry fee are high, no price
money is given, no lodging & Boarding are provided. Apart from
this, players have to spend on Airfare, visa fees etc.,. It is
also seen that in a tournament, the organizer himself plays and
ensures that the participants get ELO points. There is a strong
suspicion that all is not well in such tournaments and he has
been informed that the points are thrown for some other
consideration.
When there are nearly 150 FIDE Rated tournaments organized every
year in India, instead of making use of this by participating in
such tournaments to gain prize money and also ELO points,
Mr.Dongre said, that it baffles him why any one should go all
the way abroad spending in lacks where there is no FIDE norms,
prize money at all apart from spending on airfare, B & L , Entry
fee, Visa fees and other expenses connected with such trips
abroad instead of using the same money to play in several
tournaments in India.
After discussion, the members unanimously passed the following
Resolution
“Henceforth players desirous of participating in any Round Robin
Rating tmt ( where there is no FIDE norms given ) abroad, should
seek the prior approval from the All India Chess Federation,
failing which it will be considered as indiscipline and action
initiated accordingly”.
