The new World Under - 12 Chess
Champion

The new world under-12 champion Karthikeyan Murali was given a
grand reception when he returned home on Nov 29 from Brazil.
Among those who received him at the Chennai airport were Muthu
Kumar, M. Thirukkalathy from the Tamil Nadu State Chess
Association and S. Balaraman, Secretary of the Thiruvallur
District Chess Association and others.
On arrival Karthikeyan said the important game was against top
seed Aravindh Chithambaram of Madurai. "I want to become a
grandmaster," said the eighth standard student of Velammal
International School. His parents, coach M.A. Velayudham,
relatives and classmates were present to receive him. He was
silver medal winner in under-10 two years before.
