Bharat Singh elected as
President of Commonwealth Chess Association
Mr. Bharat Singh Chauhan, Treasurer All India Chess federation
was elected President of the Commonwealth Chess Association (CCA)
in the FIDE election that are underway at Khanty Mansiysk in
Russia. Mr. Chauhan, who is also the President FIDE, Asian Zone
3.2, was elected unopposed.

Ahead of the Commonwealth games,
in which Chess is not a medal sport yet, this could be a big
boost to Indian chess and Mr. Chauhan has made it clear that he
will no stones unturned to try for inclusion of Chess as a medal
sport in possibly 2014 or 2018 Commonwealth games.
