Air India stuns PSPB

Gurgaon (24 Feb 10) :- Top seed and defending champions Petroleum Sports Promotion Board suffered a huge set back to their title contention as they lost crucial fifth round encounter against second seed Air India 1 -3. For Air India, Grandmaster Tejas Bakre defeated Grandmaster Arun Prasad in second board and G B Joshi stunned Grandmaster Deepan Chakkravarthy in fourth board while Grandmaster Parimarjan Negi and International Master Satyaprgyan snatched half points from Grandmasters K Sasikiran on top board and Abhijit Kunte on third board respectively.

 



 

In another fifth round matches, Railway Sports Promotion Board ‘A’ not given any chance to their rivals West Bengal and registered a comfortable 4 -0 win. While second railway team in the fray, also had an easy day in the office as they got better off Kerala 3.5- .5. Tamilnadu held Life Insurance Corporation of India to creditable draw while Punjab defeated Delhi 3.5 – .5.

Meanwhile in the Women’s section, Dibeyandu Barua Chess Academy defeated Bihar while host Hayana lost to Life Insurance Corporation of India.

Results Round – 5 (Open ) with match points :- Air India (10) beat Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (8) ; Railway Sports Promotion Board ‘A’ (8) beat West Bengal (6) 4 - 0; Railway Sports Promotion Board ‘B’ (8) beat Kerala (6) 3.5 - .5 ; Tamilnadu (7) drew with Life Insurance Corporation of India (7) 2 - 2 ; Punjab (6) beat Delhi (4) 3.5 – .5 ; Himachal Pradesh (4) lost to Bihar ‘A’ (6) 1 - 3; Haryana ‘A’ (5) drew with Uttarpradesh (5) 2 - 2 ; Tata Consultancy Services(5) drew with Services Sports Control Board (5) 2 - 2; Madhya Kshetra Shatranj Sangh ‘A’ (3) lost to Madhya Kshetra Shatranj Sangh ‘B’ (6) 1 – 3; All India Chess Federation for Blind (2) lost to Budhibal Kreeda Trust (4) 1 - 3; Bihar ‘B’ (4) beat Kamaksha HP (2) 3 -1; HBTI (2) lost to All India Electricity Sports Control Board (4) 0 - 4; Haryana ‘B’(2) got Bye.

Results Round-2 (Women) :- Bihar lost to Dibeyandu Barua Chess Academy 0 - 4 ; Haryana lost to Life Insurance Corporation of India 1.5 – 2.5.

We therefore request all the organizers / State chess associations to send their Bidform along with prescribed fee to organize any FIDE rating events, 45 days in advance to All India Chess Federation for onward submission to FIDE and enable us to allot the FIDE  / AICF event code for the event.   Download the Bidform
