PSPB and Air India share lead

Gurgaon (23 Feb 10) :- Top seed Petroleum Sports Promotion Board and second seed Air India share the lead with 8 match points after fourth round matches in the ongoing National Club Open Team Championship at DAV Public School here on today. Petroleum beat Railway Sports Promotion Board A team 3 -1 while Air India got better off Kerala in the fourth round encounters. For Petroleum, Grandmaster Arun Prasad and Deepan Chakkravarthy produced favourable results on second and fourth table against Grandmaster R R Laxman and International Master K Rathnakaran. While their top ranked player Sasikiran and Grandmaster S Kidambi settled for half points against International Masters Saptarshi Roy Chowdhury and MS Thejkumar respectively.

 



Meanwhile Air India convincingly defeated Kerala with a margin of 3.5 - .5. The only bright spot for Kerala from this match was the performance of lowly rated Salil Kumar, who held International Master Rahul Shetty to a creditable draw. In another fourth round matches, Railway Sports Promotion Board B team defeated Delhi 3.5 - .5 while host Haryana lost to LIC 1.5 – 2.5. But M C Tanwar brought cheers to home crowd with his individual performance as he outwitted International Master Atanu Lahiri on second board.
 


In the Women’s category Dibeyandu Barua Chess Academy started their campaign in a winning note as they beat Tamilnadu 3 – 1. LIC also won their first round match against Bihar 2.5 – 1.5.

Earlier the fourth round matches were inaugurated by Sh. Dharam Bir, MLA from Sohna and Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Panchayat Developments. He inaugurated the 4th Round by lighting the lamp and played the opening move with Grandmaster Parmarjan Negi.

Results Round – 4 (Open ) :- Petroleum Sports Promotion Board beat Railway Sports Promotion Board ‘A’ 3 – 1 ; Kerala lost to Air India .5 – 3.5 ; Delhi lost to Railway Sports Promotion Board ‘B’ .5 – 3.5 ; Life Insurance Corporation of India beat Haryana ‘A’ 2.5 – 1.5 ; Bihar ‘A’ lost to Tamilnadu . 5 – 3.5 ; West Bengal beat Tata Consultancy Services 3 – 1 ; Budhibal Kreeda Trust lost to Punjab 0 – 4; Uttarpradesh beat Bihar ‘B’ 3.5 - . 5; Services Sports Control Board beat HBTI 4 – 0 ; All India Chess Federation for Blind lost to Himachal Pradesh 1 – 3 ; Kamaksha HP lost to Madhya Kshetra Shatranj Sangh ‘B’ 1 – 3 ; Haryana ‘B’ lost to Madhya Kshetra Shatranj Sangh ‘A’ 1 – 3.

Results Round - 3 (Open) :- Railway Sports Promotion Board ‘B’ lost to Petroleum Sports Promotion Board .5 – 3.5 ; Air India beat Life Insurance Corporation of India 2.5 – 1.5 ; Tata Consultancy Services lost to Railway Sports Promotion Board ‘A’ 0 – 4 ; Punjab lost to Kerala 1.5 – 2.5 ; Tamilnadu beat Services Sports Control Board 4 – 0 ; Madhya Kshetra Shatranj Sangh ‘B’ lost to West Bengal 1 – 3 ; Budhibal Kreeda Trust lost to Bihar ‘A’ .5 – 3.5 ; Haryana ‘A’ beat All India Chess Federation for Blind 3.5 - .5 ; Kamaksha HP lost to Delhi 0 – 4 ; Himachal Pradesh beat Haryana ‘B’ 2.5 – 1.5 ; Bihar ‘B’ drew with Madhya Kshetra Shatranj Sangh ‘A’ 2 - 2; All India Electricity Sports Control Board lost to Uttarpradesh 1.5 – 2.5.

We therefore request all the organizers / State chess associations to send their Bidform along with prescribed fee to organize any FIDE rating events, 45 days in advance to All India Chess Federation for onward submission to FIDE and enable us to allot the FIDE  / AICF event code for the event.   Download the Bidform
