National Club Team Chess Championship - 2010

 

PSPB on song; Kerala beat Tamilnadu

Gurgaon (22 Feb 10) :- Pre-match favourites Petroleum Sports Promotion Board started their campaign in style in the 30th National Club Open Team Chess Championship here at DAV Public School as they overcame their rivals in the first two rounds with an identical score of 4-0 without much struggle. PSPB rested its top ranked player Grandmaster Sasikiran for the first two rounds before walking away with perfect scores against Delhi and Punjab.
 

 

 

 


Meanwhile, Kerala seeded eleventh in the tournament registered first major upset as they stunned sixth Tamilnadu in a well fought second round match. Seasoned campaigner OT Anilkumar gave a perfect start for Kerala in the top table as he overcame higher rated Ramnath Bhuvanesh. While Ganesh Bhat and Fide Master P Maheswaran split the point on second table. Venkat Sundarm registered a decisive result in favour of Tamilnadu against Ameer PS in the third board. But young Salil Kumar made the day memorable for Kerala as he beat higher rated H Venkatesh to register a 2.5-1.5 win for Kerala against its neighbours.

 



Second seed Air India and third seed Railway Sports Promotion Board ‘A’ team also shown their supremacy to defeat West Bengal and Haryana ‘A’ respectively. Earlier in the first round Air India defeated Uttarpradesh while Railway men overcame Services Sports Control Board.

Results Round-2 : PSPB beat Punjab 4-0; West Bengal lost to Air India .5-3.5; RSPB ‘A’ beat Haryana ‘A’ 3-1; Bihar ‘A’ lost to RSPB ‘B’ .5-3.5; LIC beat Kamaksha HP 4-0; Kerala beat Tamilnadu 2.5-1.5; Uttarpradesh lost to Tata Consultancy Services 1-3; Madhya Kshetra Shatranj Snagh ‘A’ lost to Delhi 1.5-2.5; All India Electricity Sports Control Board lost to Services Sports Control Board 0-4; Himachal Pradesh lost to Budhibal Kreeda Trust 1-3; HBTI lost to Madhya Kshetra Shatranj Snagh ‘B’ 0-4; Haryana ‘B’ drew with Bihar ‘B’ 2-2.


Results Round-1 : Delhi lost to PSPB 0-4; Air India beat Uttar Pradesh 3.5-0.5; Services Sports Control Board lost to RSPB ‘A' 0.5-3.5; RSPB ‘B’ beat Himachal Pradesh 4-0; Madhya Kshetra Shatranj Snagh ‘B’ lost to LIC 0-4; Tamil Nadu bt Haryana ‘B' 3.5-0.5; Budhibal Kreeda Trust lost to West Bengal 0-4; Punjab bt Madhya Kshetra Shatranj Snagh ‘A' 4-0; Bihar ‘B' lost to Bihar ‘A' 0.5-3.5; Hayrana ‘A' bt Electricity Board 4-0; AICF-Blind lost to Kerala 1-3; TCS bt HBTI 4-0 .

May 06 2010 - Please be informed that the FIDE has announced that, here after all the rating tournaments should be registered 30 days in advance. We therefore request all the organizers / State chess associations to send their Bidform along with prescribed fee to organize any FIDE rating events, 45 days in advance to All India Chess Federation for onward submission to FIDE and enable us to allot the FIDE  / AICF event code for the event.   Download the Bidform
