Magnus Carlsen, the No.1 ranked player from Norway soared to a
new unheralded peak in the FIDE Elo rating scale when he
touched 2826 in the July 1, 2010 rating list.
World champion Viswanathan Anand won plenty of Elo to touch the
2800 rating mark yet again and occupy the third place. Veselin
Topalov of Bulgaria is ranked second with 2803.
Eight Indian players are 2600 or above. Krishnan Sasikiran is on
2679, Surya Shekhar Ganguly is third best Indian on 2655.
Pentala Harikrishna is rated 2646 and would be expected to play
the next National 'A' unless he crosses the 2650 mark.
Sandipan Chanda 2637, Parimarjan Negi 2615, G.N. Gopal 2611 and
Koneru Humpy is on 2600. Humpy holds the record for topping the
Junior World Girls list for 22 times. There are 5578 FIDE rated
players in our country

all the rating tournaments should be registered 30 days in
advance. We therefore request all the organizers / State chess
associations to send their Bidform along with prescribed fee to
organize any FIDE rating events, 45 days in advance to All India
Chess Federation for onward submission to FIDE and enable us to
