Finally, Alexei Shirov's brilliant run ended in his first defeat
when Hikaru Nakamura, the American defeated him in the seventh
round of the Corus Chess Tournament on Jan 23. Seven rounds are
completed in all the three sections and six rounds remain to be
played.
World champion Viswanathan Anand is quiet with his seventh round
draw against Fabiano Caruana of Italy. Anand is on 3.5/7. Though
jolted, Shirov leads with 5.5 points.
In the Grand Master Group B, Harikrishna drew Negi with the
black pieces and is on four points. Anish Giri of the
Netherlands is leading with 5.5 points.
In the Grand Master Group C, Soumya Swaminathan drew Kuipers
with the black pieces and moved out of the jinxed half point to
one point. Abhijeet Gupta scored over Plukkel with the black
pieces to move to joint second place on 5/7. Robson leads with
5.5/7.

all the rating tournaments should be registered 30 days in
advance. We therefore request all the organizers / State chess
associations to send their Bidform along with prescribed fee to
organize any FIDE rating events, 45 days in advance to All India
Chess Federation for onward submission to FIDE and enable us to
