FIDE Confirms Five Titles On

FIDE confirmed five titles, one
Grand Master and four International Masters on Indians at the
FIDE Presidential Board Meeting at Bursa in Turkey.
FIDE Zone 3.2 champion Sriram Jha of LIC, Delhi has been
confirmed the Grand Master title conditioned on rating. His
rating as on date is 2511 and that requirement is fulfilled.
International Master titles have been confirmed on Swapnil
Dhopade (1990-born) of Amravati (Mah), Debashis Das (1993-born)
of Cuttack (Ori), Sahaj Grover (1995-born) of Delhi. Rahul
Sangma (1989-born) from Delhi will be awarded the title when he
reaches the 2400 rating mark.
With these new inclusions, India has 21 Grand Masters and 65
International Masters. Viswanathan Anand became India's first
Grand Master in 1987 and Manuel Aaron became India's first
International Master in 1960.

advance. We therefore request all the organizers / State chess
associations to send their Bidform along with prescribed fee to
organize any FIDE rating events, 45 days in advance to All India
Chess Federation for onward submission to FIDE and enable us to
