The Indian Players had a good day in the 5th Round of the Ist
Negroponte International Chess Championship 2010.
International Master Vishnu Parsanna, who defeated GM Stelios in
the 4th round, went on to win his fifth round game against
another Strong Grandmaster Evgeny Vorobiov [2592] with ease.
Playing with white he opened the game with e4 and his opponent
replied with c5. Later the game was fought on Sicilian, O'Kelly
Variation. It was a fast track game and by 40th Move Prasanna
cornered the Black King and forced him to surrender.
GM Sandipan Chanda played a tactically superior game and very
soon converted it into a winning position with the Black King
getting trapped between white Knight and the Rook.
GM Surya Sekhar Ganguly also won his game against IM G Leonid in
just 29 moves. GM Abhijeet Gupta and IMs D Harika, Tania Sachdev,
Shyam Sundar , and Sahej Grover won their respective games.
Vaibhav Suri also won his game.
GM Deepan Chakravarthy and Karma Pandey drew their games. The
only loss suffered by Indians in the fifth round was when WGM
Somaya Swaminathan Lost to GM Ehsan Moradabadi of Iran.
GM Stuat Atalik and GM Zaven Andriasian won their game and with
perfect score of 5 points from five games are Jointly leading
the Championship. They will playing against eachother in the 6th
Round while two indians
Vishnu Prasanna and GM Abhijeet Gupta are pitted against each
other. GM Sandipan Chanda will take on GM Athanasios and Ganguly
will play against GM Mahjoob Morteja of Iran

all the rating tournaments should be registered 30 days in
advance. We therefore request all the organizers / State chess
associations to send their Bidform along with prescribed fee to
organize any FIDE rating events, 45 days in advance to All India
Chess Federation for onward submission to FIDE and enable us to
allot the FIDE / AICF event code for the event. Download the Bidform
