Indians make good use of the
Penultimate Round at Negroponte 2010

Indian Chess Players fought their games ifor positive results at
the 8th Round of the Negroponte International Chess Championship
being played here at the Greek Resort of Chalkida. Grandmaster
Surya Sekhar Ganguly beat Armenian Grandmaster Tukhaev Adams in
just 31 movers while IM Dronavalli Harika lost to Compatriot
Grandmaster Sandeepan Chanda after giving a tough fight to the
Bengal tiger. Sandeepan played a much better game and tactfully
demolished all her moves and in the end game forced her to
surrender.
Tania Sachdev, who had a bad tournament and was under a lot of
stress finally won a point against a must lower rated player.
She is now on 4.5 points from 8 games. GM Deepan Chakravarthy
won his second game in succession. Vishnu Prasanna lost to David
Albert, Vaibhav Suri to GM Stelios while Sahej j Grover
blundered in the endgame and paid the price.
WGM Somaya Swaminathan, looking tired preferred to play safe and
to avoid loss of elo points accepted a draw when offered.
On the Top Board Turkish Grandmaster Suat Atalik had a short
draw but on the second table Robert Hess and Armenian
Grandmaster Zaven Andriasian fought a tough battle to win a
point. In the end Robert Hess prevailed over his opponent and
won the game. Both Atalik and Hess are now on 7 points and will
have crucial games in the final round. Robert Hess will take on
Vladimir Burmakin and Atalik will play against GM Denis
Khismatullin. India’s Surya Sekhar Ganguly and Sandeepan Chanda
will face the two Iranian Grandmasters Ghaem Meghami and Elshan
Moradiabadi respectively.

all the rating tournaments should be registered 30 days in
advance. We therefore request all the organizers / State chess
associations to send their Bidform along with prescribed fee to
organize any FIDE rating events, 45 days in advance to All India
Chess Federation for onward submission to FIDE and enable us to
