World Chess Champion Viswanathan Anand and World No 1 Magnus Carlsen have Qualified to play in the Finals of the Arctic Securities Chess Stars Rapid 2010 , Kristiansund,Norway. The two Games Final between Anand and Carlsen will be played on 30th August 2010. Judit Polgar and Jon Hammer will fight for the 3rd Place.

Grandmaster Vishy Anand was the only player who remained unbeaten in the 6 games while Magnus Carlsen lost to compatriot Jon Ludwig Hammer in the 5th Game. Carlsen drew his remainingg two games with Judit Polgar and Viswanathan Anand respectively.

Playing with Black against Jon Ludwig Hammer, Anand miscalculated his moves and gave an advantage to his opponent. However, realizing his mistake Anand kept on strengthening his fort and in the end game managed to win the game.

In the second game against Judit Polgar , Anand copied Carlsen- Judit’s earlier game and poor Judit failed to understand Anand’s move and wasted a lot of time due to which she came under tremendous time pressure and lost the game.

Anand Carlsen game ended in a draw.
