Chalkida, Greece 14th August, 2010.Grandmaster Surya Sekhar Ganguly and Vaibhav Suri were the lone Indians to register a win in the 6th Round of the Ist Negroponte International Chess Championship being held in Chalkida , a beach resort some 100 kilometers from the Greek Capital Athens.

Abhijeet Gupta and compatriot Vishnu Prasanna fought for a win but neither could score a victory . After a marathon 72 moves when white King and black pawn and king were left on the board leaving no chance for any further play. Both shook hands Signaling a draw.

Sandipan Chanda , Harika Dronavalli and Somaya Swaminathan drew their respective games. GM Deepan Chakravorthy, IM Shyam Sundar, IM Tania Sachdev and Karma Pandya lost .

On the top Board Championship Leaders GM Zaven Andriasian and GM Stuat Atalik had a short draw. Even after this draw they are still jointly leading the championship with 5.5points each followed by GM Robert Hess , FM Vishnu Prasanna, GM Abhijeet Gupta, GM P Ioannis, GM Vladimir Burmakin and GM Surya Sekhar Ganguly , all on 5 points each.

IM Harika Dronavalli and IM Ekaterina Atalik are leading in the women’s section with 4.5 points.
