World champion Viswanathan Anand moved from joint
lead to clear second place after he was held to a draw
by rising star Magnus Carlsen of Norway in the sixth
round of the Tal Memorial Super Category event in
Moscowo November 11.
Former world champion Vladimir Kramnik came hot and
wanted to win against Ruslan Ponomariov and did it in a
well contested ending. Kramnik showed strong opening and
middlegame play to win an exchange. Kramnik leads with
4.5 points. Anand is in second place with four points.
Oldest player of the meet, Ivanchuk is on 3.5 points
along with Boris Gelfand. Three rounds remain to be
played in this 10-player single all-play-all contest.
In a queen's gambit, Ragozin defence game, Carlsen as
white lost a pawn and took a draw by perpetually
checking the black king of Anand. Round six saw as many
as three decisive games, the best seen so far like the
third round.
The results (round six): V. Kramnik (Rus) 4.5 bt R.
Ponomariov (Ukr) 2.5, B. Gelfand (Isr) 3.5 bt L. Aronian
(Arm) 3, M. Carlsen (Nor) 3 drew with V. Anand (Ind) 4,
