World champion Viswanathan Anand leads the World
Blitz Chess Championship at Moscow with 12 points after
the first 14 rounds on Nov 16. There are still two days
left and 28 rounds still to be played. It is a 22-player
double all-play-all. This event is part of the Tal
Memorial happening at Moscow.
In the opening three rounds, Anand drew Peter Leko (Hun)
with black and beat Vassily Ivanchuk (Ukr) with white
and drew Vladimir Kramnik (Rus) with the black pieces.
In the next four rounds he beat Vugar Gashimov (Az),
world women's champion Alexandra Kosteniuk (Rus) and
Evgeny Bareev (Rus) and then drew Alexander Morozevich (Rus).
Then he beat Peter Svidler (Rus) and drew Ruslan
Ponomariov (Ukr).
There followed a winning streak, he won the next five
games against Alexander Grischuk (Rus), Shakriyar
Mamedyarov (Az), Vladislav Tkachiev (Fra), Leinier
Dominguez (Cub), Sergey Karjakin (Ukr) to lead the table
with 12 points from 14 games.
Teenaged star Magnus Carlsen of Norway is in clear
second position on ten points. Former world champion
Anatoly Karpov of Russia is on nine points.
Vladimir Kramnik and Alexander Grischuk are on 8.5
points.

all the rating tournaments should be registered 30 days in
advance. We therefore request all the organizers / State chess
associations to send their Bidform along with prescribed fee to
organize any FIDE rating events, 45 days in advance to All India
Chess Federation for onward submission to FIDE and enable us to
