XXIII National Under-13 (Open & Girls) Chess Championship 2009
 

Prajapati holds Shiven

23rd National Under-13 (Open & Girls) Chess Championship got of to a surprising start as second seed and Asian Under-14 champion Shiven Khosla of Maharashtra held by lower seeded Prajapati Malhar of Gujarat in the first round match here at Bapu Samaj Seva Kendra, Panchkuian Road on Friday.

A total number of 217 players in Open and 104 in girls section from across the country are participating in this prestigious championships. In the open section, top seed and local hope Vaibhav Suri started his campaign with an easy outing against Harmeet Thurkan of Haryana while former world Under-12 gold medalist Sayantan Das also started his tournament campaign with a bang as he overcame his rival Bhaskar Sri Viswaroopanand of Orissa.

Meanwhile in the girls’ category, absence of top seed Cholleti Sahajasri of Andhra Pradesh for the first round helped second seed Nandhidaa P V to start her tournament campaign at the top board and she overpowered her Assam rival Simran Ahmed in the first round encounter.

Earlier during the inauguration ceremony players were celebrated the 40th Birthday of World Champion Viswanathan Anand by cutting of cake.

Important Results (Round-1) Open :- Vaibhav Suri of Delhi (1) beat Harmeet Thurkan of Haryana (0); Prajapati Malhar of Gujarat (.5) drew with Shiven Khosla of Maharashtra (.5); Sayantan Das of West Bengal (1) beat Bhaskar Sri Viswaroopanand of Orissa (0); Kalyanaraghavan of Tamilnadu (0) lost to Girish A Koushik of Karnataka (1); Utkal Ranjan Sahoo of Orissa (1) beat Dinesh A of Puducherry.

Important Results (Round-1) Girls :- Nandidhaa P V of Tamilnadu (1) beat Ahmed Simran of Assam (0); Akankshya Nayak of Orissa (0) lost to Sonakshi Rathore of Rajasthan (1); Shweta Gole of Maharashtra (1) beat Anigani Kavya of Andhrapradesh (0); Anigani Keerthana of Andhrapradesh (0) lost to Bala Kannamma of Tamilnadu (1); Akankhya Kabi of Orissa (1) beat Ankita Singh of Chattisgarh (0).

May 06 2010 - Please be informed that the FIDE has announced that, here after all the rating tournaments should be registered 30 days in advance. We therefore request all the organizers / State chess associations to send their Bidform along with prescribed fee to organize any FIDE rating events, 45 days in advance to All India Chess Federation for onward submission to FIDE and enable us to allot the FIDE  / AICF event code for the event.   Download the Bidform
