By Gopa Kumar
New Delhi (18 Dec 09) :- 23rd National Under-13 Open
Chess Championship is interestingly poised at the end of
penultimate round as six players with 8 points are
leading the point table and targeting the pole position
finish here at Bapu Samaj Sewa Kendra on Friday. Former
world Under-10 Champion Girish A Koushik escaped from
the claws of defeat against top seed and local hope
Vaibhav Suri on the top board. Vaibhav, enjoyed the
advantage through out the game but failed to capitalize
the same for a decisive result and satisfied with half
points after 48 moves. Meanwhile other overnight leaders
Karma Pandya of Gujarat and Shardul Gagare of
Maharashtra signed the peace treaty after 50 moves. Both
these result helped last year runner up Utkal Ranjan
Sahoo of Orissa and G Akash of Tamilnadu to join the top
of point table as they over came Akash PC Iyer of
Tamilnadu and Debankan Dhara of West Bengal
respectively. In the final round tomorrow, Vaibhav Suri
