Michelle Catherina on sole lead

New Delhi (14 Dec 09) :- Fourth seed Michelle Catherina
of Tamilnadu take sole lead with five points from as
many rounds in the girls section of ongoing 23rd
National Under-13 (Open & Girls) Chess Championship at
Bapu Samaj Seva Kendra, Panchkuian Road here on Monday.
Playing black side of Ruy Lopez game, Catherina stunned
second seed and state mate Nandhidhaa P V in 65 moves.
Tamilnadu girls Meenu Priya and Bala Kannamma along with
Lasya of Andhra Pradesh are now on second spot with four
and half points.
Meanwhile in the open section, continuing his winning
form, former World Under-12 champion Sayantan Das of
West Bengal defeated Karma Pandya of Gujarat in the
fifth round encounter. Sayantan have the company of
Girish A Koushik of Karnataka and Utkal Ranjan Shaoo of
Orissa at the top of the point table with perfect scores
after fifth round matches. Girish overcame Chandrashish
Majumdar of West Bengal while Sahoo got better of G
Akash of Tamilnadu in the fifth round.

all the rating tournaments should be registered 30 days in
advance. We therefore request all the organizers / State chess
associations to send their Bidform along with prescribed fee to
organize any FIDE rating events, 45 days in advance to All India
Chess Federation for onward submission to FIDE and enable us to
