UNDER-7 NATIONALS AT AHMEDABAD
The
National Under-7 Chess Championship got off to a
colourful start at the sprawling lawns of Sun-N-Step
Club in Ahmedabad on Thursday, 17th December 2009.
Prominent dignatories including Mr. Ajay Patel
(Vice-President, GSCA), Mr. Kartikey Shukla (MD,
Vishvabharati School), Mr. Vinay Parikh, Hon. Secretary
(GSCA) , Mr. Jayesh Shah, Chairman (Sun-n-step club),
Mr. Mayur Patel, Vice-President (GSCA) and Mr.
Ravichandran Chief Arbiter were present on this
occasion.
The
Tournament has attaracted a record number of 217 entries
from all over India. The Boys section has 148 entries
from 18 states namely Orissa, Maharashtra, Goa, Tamil
Nadu, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Pondicherry, West Bengal,
Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Haryana, Punjab,
Gujarat, Jharkhand, Kerala, Bihar & Madhya Pradesh. The
girls section has 69 entries including one entry from
the north eastern state of Manipur.
The event is 11 round swiss format with a cash prize of
Rs 1lakh.
At
the end of round 4, Adyasa Mahapatra [Ori], Saina
Salonika [Ori], Sanika Gaikwad [Mah] & Riddhi Zantya [Goa]
are ahead of the competition with four points each. In
the Boys section, 8 players namely Subhasis Barik [Ori],
Aditya SSV [AP], Iniyan P [TN], Ansumal Samal [Ori],
Moksh Asnani [MP], Saurabh Anand [Bihar], Sadhu S
Adithya [ TN] & Rudraksh Parida [Ori] have four points
each.
