Ganguly, Zhou Weiqi In Lead

Indian expectations came true when our national champion Surya Shekhar Ganguly disloged Rogelio Antonio of the Philippines from the lead by defeating him in the tenth and penultimate round. Ganguly shares the lead with Zhou Weiqi of China on 7.5/10.

In the final round, both the leaders are playing black against different opponents. Ganguly faces the higher rated Zhou Jianchao of China. Five players share the third place on seven points. and it includes four Chinese and one Philippine player.

Other Indians: Sandipan Chanda 6.5, Abhijit Kunte 6.5, Parimarjan Negi 6.5, Sasikiran 6, Abhijeet Gupta 6, Deepan Chakkravarthy 6, Vidit Gujrathi 5, Dronavalli Harika 5, Ashwin Jayaram 5, K. Priyadharshan 4.5, Akshayraj Kore 4.

Zhang Xiaowen Sitting Pretty

Woman International Master Zhang Xiaowen of China is assured of the Asian Women's Chess Championship title when she drew Meenakshi Subbaraman of Chennai in the tenth and penultimate round.

Zhang moved to eight points from ten rounds and enjoys a one point lead. Meenakshi is tied for the fifth place on 6.5 points. Other Indians: Tania Sachdev 6, Eesha Karavade 6, Swati Ghate 5.5, Kruttika Nadig 5, Nisha Mohota 4.5.

May 06 2010 - Please be informed that the FIDE has announced that, here after all the rating tournaments should be registered 30 days in advance. We therefore request all the organizers / State chess associations to send their Bidform along with prescribed fee to organize any FIDE rating events, 45 days in advance to All India Chess Federation for onward submission to FIDE and enable us to allot the FIDE  / AICF event code for the event.   Download the Bidform
