Five Indians Qualify From Philippines By Arvind Aaron
Four Indian players in men, Surya Shekhar Ganguly,
Sandipan Chanda (both Kolkata), Krishnan Sasikiran
(Chennai) and Abhijit Kunte (Pune) qualified from the
Asian Individual Championship for the World Cup in
Russia later this year.
Four of the ten qualifiers came from India and another
four from China made it. Rest of the two places went to
Vietnam and the Philippines at one apiece.
Among women, only three players qualify for the World
Women's Championship of 2010 at Turkey but since Huang
Qian of China who was placed second had already
qualified, fourth placed WGM S. Meenakshi of Chennai
finds a qualifying place according to a Asian Chess
Federation newsletter.

advance. We therefore request all the organizers / State chess
associations to send their Bidform along with prescribed fee to
organize any FIDE rating events, 45 days in advance to All India
Chess Federation for onward submission to FIDE and enable us to
