Free Boarding & dormitory type lodging will be provided to all players.

Eligibility:- Those who are in studying in  Schools/Junior Colleges up to Standard XII only allowed .Entries should be attested by Head of the Institution/District Chess Assn/State chess Assn.

Rate of play: 90 minutes plus 30 seconds increment per move.

Tie break: progressive score will apply and prize money will be shared in case of tie.

AICF Registration :-AICF Registration Fee of Rs.250 for 2009-10 should be paid or copy of proof of payment sent along with Entry Fee.  Those who do not pay this Registration Fee by 11 A.M on 10.8.2009 will not be included in the first round pairing

TNSCA Registration Fee: (payable only by Tamil Nadu players) Rs.70 for 2009-10.

Protest Fee: Rs.300/- protests should be lodged within 15 minutes of the incident.

Boarding : Free to all players.

Vegetarian – South Indian – Morning Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

(In addition tea, coffee, soft drinks & snacks on payment)

Lodging: Dormitory type will be provided to all players.

(Pillows and blankets will be available for hire at nominal rate)

Those who need lodging at the School are requested to inform before 3^rd  August otherwise the lodging will not be provided.

Chess Clock : All the players are requested to bring the chess clock.

A short profile

Started as a Kindergarten school in the year 1968 in Nanganallur, a suburb on the southern periphery of Madras with 20 students and 4 teachers, Modern Senior Secondary School has blossomed into a senior secondary school with classes from LKG to Standard XII.  It was affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi in the year 1977.  The first batch of students (boys and girls) sat for Standard X Board Examination in 1980 and then in 1982 for Standard XII Board Examination.  All these years, the School has been blessed with cent percent passes.

The School has a student strength of about 2700 students (boys and girls) at the commencement of the current year 2009-10 and a staff strength of about 130 comprising two Ph.D’s and 7 M.Phil’s besides a number of Post Graduate, Trained Graduate, Primary Grade and Kindergarten teachers with support staff.

The School is showing great importance to Co curricular and extra curricular activities.  In particular, the School is giving special coaching in chess to its students, which has paid rich dividends.  The School is very proud of one of its alumni, K.Sasikiran, Grand Master and Arjuna Awardee in Chess.   Following in his footsteps, the School has a host of eminent chess players.

The Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi allotted to the School, the Southern Zonal Chess Tournaments in 2004 and 2006 under its Competitive Sports Programme.  The final all India Chess Championship was conducted in the School in 2007.

With this background, the School is now venturing to conduct

                        Modern Senior Secondary School

                   International Rating Chess Championship

every year starting from the  year 2008.

This is the first ever International Rating Chess Championship at the School level.
