XIV International Open Chess tournament of Balaguer , Spain

All the boys of our sub junior team have won their games against the lower rated opponents in the inaugural round of the XIV International open chess tournament at Balaguer ,Spain. The total participation in this tournament is 84 with 33 titled players which includes 10 grandmasters and 11 international masters. GM Kiril Georgiev from Bulgaria is the top seed.


K.Priyadharshan (1)and Rakesh Kulkarni(1) opened their game from the white side with the interesting 1.d3 followed by 2. a3 and comfortably scored their full point. Udeshi Aditya(1) with white fluently won against Ferrer Rivero of Spain. Debashish Das(1) won an exchange in the middle game and later converted the advantage into a win without any difficulty.

 
Deepthamsh Reddy(1) had to work hard to pocket the full point from Pingp Nos Estere of Spain. Girish A Koushik ‘s(1) opponent did not turn up for the first round. Shalmali Gagare(1) scored her point easily against the unrated Enterra Galguera of Spain.

 
The other girls had to fight hard against the GMs and IMs. Shirsty J Shetty got a good position in the middle game against the IM Ivanov Jordan of Bulgaria but lost the advantage and the game in the ending. IM Fluvia Poyatos of Spain had to put all his efforts in the rook ending to defeat Rucha Pujari of India.


R.Bharathi was outplayed in the Sicilian Boleslavsky variation by the Azerbaijian GM Momedov, Nidjat . GM Aroshidze Levan of Georgia defeated Pallabi Roy in the 1.d3 and a3 set up. J.Saranya who had employed the Rossolimo variation, lost her game against the Spanish IM Ipatov Alexander .

 
GM Gopal was held to a draw by the young Fenil Shah of Gujarat. GM Iturrizaga Jordan of Venezula defeated Devangi Patankar of Pune.

We therefore request all the organizers / State chess associations to send their Bidform along with prescribed fee to organize any FIDE rating events, 45 days in advance to All India Chess Federation for onward submission to FIDE and enable us to allot the FIDE  / AICF event code for the event.   Download the Bidform
