Indian Sub juniors at Spain

Indian
Sub Junior contingent of 12 players showed a lot of
promise at the end of the 6th round in the 29th Villa De
Benasque Chess Open tournament at Benasque, Spain.
National Sub-junior Champion R. Bharathi lead the Indian
Girls challenge with 4 points from 6 rounds which
includes a win against FM Sanchez Carlos from White side
of French Tarrasch. She has also scored a draw against
highly rated Debashish Das of India. Shalmali Gagare and
J. Saranya are both on 3.5 points. Shalmali has scored a
creditable draw against IM Alexander Colovic with Black
pieces in a Queen pawn Opening. Saranya displayed her
excellent form to hold GM Aroshidze Levan to a draw.
Pallabi
Roy is on 3 points from 6 games which includes a draw
against highly rated FM Priyadarshan of India. Shrishti
Shetty and Rucha Pujari are both on 2.5 points. Shrishti
created a mild flutter when she beat WGM Jana Bellin of
England earlier in the tournament.
Among
the Indian Sub-junior boys, Aditya Udeshi and
Priyadarshan lead the Indian challange with 4.5 points
each at the end of the 6th round. Aditya has scored a
sensational win over GM Mateo Roman of Republic of
Dominica. Aditya also held GM Gomez Esteban of Spain to
a creditable draw. Rakesh Kulkarni of Mumbai is on 4
points. 12 years old Girish Kaushik became darling of
the crowd when he drew his fifth round game against GM
Kotronias of Greece. Girish has 3.5 points after 6
games.Debashish Das and Deepthamesh Reddy are on 3.5
points. Deepthamesh has scored a creditable draw against
IM Lawrence Trent of England.
