Harikrishna Wins SPICE CUP

Indian Grand Master Pentala Harikrishna of Hyderabad won the SPICE Cup
Open at Lubbock in Texas, USA on Sep 28 with a score of 5.5. Harikrishna,
a former World U-10 and World Junior champion scored 5.5 points to take
the title in the event which featured many grand masters.
Harikrishna came from Guntur, the original heartland of SPICE supplying
district of the world. He had to miss a part of the AICF Training camp at
Chennai due to this event. Winning here confirms that the Lev Psakhis camp
had injected freshness into his chess as he won the title in the event
held through Sep 17-28.
