Congratulations to Vishy Anand !!
Mr N. Srinivasan,

asked for a better Diwali gift to the entire nation from him.
Mr.Sheikh Sultan bin
Khalifah Al Nahyan - President, Asian Chess Federation Congratulations
on the victory of World Champion Viswanathan Anand in his match to retain
his title against former World Champion Vladimir Kramnik. After
India’s unprecedented double victory in the World Juniors and Girls, then
the triumph of the Indian team in the World Under-16 Youth Chess Olympiad,
India has done it again. This is a tribute to your leadership of the
All India Chess Federation and hard work promoting chess in India.
Please convey my congratulations to Vishy for doing India and Asia proud.

colossus and a one man army of Indian sport. We could not have asked for
anything better. While all focus is on Vishy, some of our young talents

Many 2 congratulations Vishy Anand on excellent performance and retaining
the world title. Anand ,you really played very well, surprised the
challenger with your opening, got the better of your opponent in his
territory.Victory in game no 5 after game 3in the same opening,with a
prepared opponent was really the turning point of the championship. You had
actually become world champion on that very day. Hoping you will retain
the title for a few more years at least. Again many 2 congrats from
thousands of chess players of this remote Distt. of Panjab. Today I
remember with pride NATIONAL-B 1983 championship,your first one,when you
were sitting on a chair with a pillow on it, to reach the height of the
table and I after finishing my game was looking your game standing behind
you. And when in 1987 during National-B at BHILAI ,the chief Arbiter
M.Aaron annonced that Anand has become Junior world champion and FIRST GM
from INDIA and he distributed sweets there in the hall. Warm regards,
Vinod Sharma, Hony. Secretary,Moga Distt.

Anand shattered the myth of Kramniks invincibility. He defeated Vladimir
in his own den, that is, matchplay format. I congratulate ANAND for his

It was a glorious week for Indian chess last week. Indian icon Viswanathan
Anand won the world chess championship in a great show of strength and
preparation at Bonn. Anand had Kramnik guessing right through, and in
tricky situations in the second half of the match, Anand held on,
defending his lead. World Champion under knock out system in Tehran 2000,
under round robin format in Mexico City 2007 and under match play in Bonn
2008 makes our Anand the only player in the history of the game to win the
world title under three different formats. This title victory over Kramnik,
portrays Anand as the most comprehensive chess player in the planet. And
added Congrats to his team of four GMs and his wife who worked tirelessly
towards Anand's peak of excellence.
VIVA ANAND.
Adding to the celebration of Anand's triumph, is the
Indian sweep at World Youth Chess Championship 2008 at Vietnam. Four golds
viz, Adhiban Baskar, Sayantan Das, Vidit Santosh Gujrati, Padmini Rout along with
a handful of silver and bronze medals complete a great chess bonanza for
India. My hearty congrats to All India Chess Federation for their
unstinted efforts in bringing greater glory to the country. yours truly, R R
Vasudevan, Arbiter, Chennai 04th
