 In an important development today, FIDE General Secretary Ignatius Leong,
AICF Honorary Secretary D.V.Sundar and AICF Vice President Sameer A.
Salgaocar discussed the formation of the FIDE India Chess Academy (FICA)
on the sidelines of the first World Mind Sports Games being conducted in
Beijing, China.
 The Academy, to be set up in the near future with the consent of the AICF
Central Council, will have the benefit of International trainers who will
groom upcoming youngsters in the entire Indian subcontinent. As FIDE
General Secretary, Leong has promised all the assistance to FICA so as to
make it one of the premier academies in the world.
 Mr.Leong also mooted the subject of the Pro Tour and to link up
prestigious tournaments with the ASEAN Grand Prix.
