Anand Is Much Matured Now

Sinking in the celebrations at Chennai, the World Champions parents were awake with the media around until 2.30 a.m. this morning at their Besant Nagar residence in Chennai.

Speaking to AICF Website www.indianchessfed.org, K. Viswanathan, Retired, General Manager of Southern Railway said his son Anand is a much matured player now and is like how Kasparov was in 1995.

Susheela Viswanathan who taught the moves to Anand in 1975 when he was six, said Anand called after the Prize Distribution from Bonn and said, "Finally it is over. I will call tomorrow at leisure and speak more."

His parents watched all the games in the Internet. The tactical stroke of game five in the end was the best according to them. They said game nine reflected his character of fighting back and it saved a valuable half a point.

The phone is ringing constantly and the parents of the World Champion are busy giving interviews to Television, Radio and the press. Anand's father appreciated the secrecy maintained by Anand in the seconds that he used in this match. "The rumour of Carlsen working with Anand also deflected the Russian minds," said his father.

Anand is a broad player who has a wider repertoire now said his father. The black preparation stood the test and also was instrumental in giving him the vital breaks in game three and five that broke and shattered Kramnik.

There were scores of friends and relatives calling. Anand's Don Bosco classmate and friend Ram Bhat, who runs Mathsya restaurant in Egmore, Chennai was answering phone calls as his parents were giving interviews. Ram Bhat has also visited Anand at various chess venues like Monte Carlo for the Amber Tournament.

Anand is expected in India in the next few days and that is when the celebration will get to the next higher level.
