Srikrishna Udupa bags Gold medal for India in Olympiad for the Blind


Shrikrishna Udupa playing his second international tournament performed excellently by winning the first ever Gold medal by an Indian blind chess player at the Olympiad for Blind. Playing on fourth board he scored 8 points out of 9 rounds to secure the gold.

India put up good performance in the 13th Chess Olympiad for the Blind 2008 organized by Hellenic Sports Federation under the auspices of International Braille Chess Association and held in Heraklion, Greece from 18th to 29th October 2008.India finished 16th among 34 nations which took part in this Olympiad.

Charudatta Jadhav of India has been nominated as First Vice President of International Braille Chess Association-IBCA Apex body for chess and is the first non-European to receive this honour.

14th Chess Olympiad 2012 for the blind has been awarded to India and it is the first time this event has come to Asia and and Charudatta Jadhav has been appointed as a Chairman of the organizing committee.
