Sayantan Das and Diptayan Ghosh Honoured

World Under 12 Champion Sayantan Das and Asian Under 10 Champion Diptayan Ghosh were felicitated by AICF Vice President Sameer Salgaocar and presented cash awards in the presence  of AICF Joint Secretary and WBCA Secretary Udayan Kanti Ghosh and International Arbiter Debashish Barua during the 8th WBCA FIDE Rated Chess Tournament being conducted at the  Khudiram Anshulan Kendra, Kolkata.

Sameer Salgaocar congratulated WBCA on the occasion of their Diamond Jubilee Year and noted that the first World Champion from West Bengal could not have come at a more appropriate time. He   also added   that under the dynamic leadership of AICF  Secretary  Shri D.V. Sundar, Indian chess is going from strength to strength and we have no less than seven World Champions in various categories. 'Basically, these are the fruits of good administration and non interference in the players' matters,' was his final observation.

Udayan Kanti Ghosh also praised the efforts of AICF in supporting youngsters and said that they were committed to having many more prestigious tournaments in West Bengal so that the budding champions could get more experience playing at the highest level. He announced that many corporates and sponsors such as Bengal Peerless were interested in financially supporting the youngsters as they realize their goals and win laurels for the country.

International Arbiter Debashish Barua proposed the vote of thanks.
