Saranya Win National U-13 Titles

G.V. Sai Krishna of Andhra Pradesh and J. Saranya of Tamil Nadu won the
VIT University National Under-13 Boys and Girls Chess Championships that
was held from Nov 13-22 at the VIT University in Vellore.
It was the second title for both as Sai Krishna has won the National U-9
at Chennai in 2005 and Saranya had won the National U-7 at Lucknow in
2003. They received the trophy and Rs.10,000 each for scoring 9.5/11 each
in their respective sections.
A record 410 players took part in this event. Each time Anand wins the
World Title there is an entry record in the age group events in the coming
months. On course to the title, third seed FIDE Master Sai Krishna scored
wins against top seed Sahaj Grover of Delhi and Fenil Shah of Ahmedabad.
He lost to Narayanan and drew one final round game against Shiven Khosla.
Shiven of Mumbai remained undefeated.
J. Saranya overcame all players and had no problems in her games. In the
final round, having won the title with a round to spare she lost to P.V.
Nandhidhaa, her state mate. She started as the top seed.
