Indian Men, Women Win Round Six

Russia and Armenia went into lead in the Chess Olympiad at Dresden after six rounds. They face in a crucial round seven battle on Nov 20. India overcame Bosnia and Herzegovina 2.5-1.5 with Sasikiran scoring over Predrag Nikolic in the top board.

Harikrishna had an extra pawn but could not win against Predojevic in board two. Ganguly drew Saric and Chanda drew IM Stojanovic with the white pieces.

India are tied for the third place on ten match points. Russia and Armenia are leading with eleven match points. A team gets two points for a win, one for a draw and zero for a defeat.

Indian won relied on wins from the lower boards of Swati Ghate and Mary Ann Gomes to defeat lower rated Italy 2.5-1.5. Tania Sachdev got her queen bottled up in the enemy territory and before she could swing it back, the damage was done. Harika drew IM Elena Sedina for 2.5-1.5 result for the Indians.

China is leading with maximum 12 points. India is tied for the seventh place on nine points. India seed eleven, faces Bulgaria, seed 13 in the seventh round.
