India Gets 19 FIDE Licensed Chess Trainers

India
got four FIDE Trainer titles at the end of the FIDE Trainer Seminar that
was organised by the All India Chess Federation at the Jawaharlal Nehru
Stadium from April 30-May 7.
Among
the 19 chess trainers who came from all over India, four got FIDE Trainer
title, seven obtained the FIDE Instructor title, three received the
National Instructor and five took the Development Instructor title.
Titles
given were based on the training capacity of the trainees and also the
strength of the players they have trained thus far. A series of tests,
some of them comparing to the competitive examinations were held. They
were grilled with 243 position to solve in 120 minutes which came to about
45 seconds per problem solving.
"It
was ten times more difficult," said G.B. Joshi of Air India, Delhi. We
thought we knew everything about chess but from this course course we
understood that chess was much more and what we knew was very little,
ceded Joshi.
International
Masters Neeraj Mishra (Jha), G.B. Joshi (Del), FIDE Master V. Hariharan
(TN) and K. Visweswaran (TN) received the more prestigious FIDE Trainer
title.
Woman
International Masters Saheli Barua (Ben) and Mrunalinee Kunte (Mah) K.
Muralimohan (TN), Prasenjit Dutta (Del), V. Ravichandran (TN), Santanu
Lahiri (Ben) and Prasad P Deshmukh (Mah) received the FIDE Instructor
titles.
"These
courses opened our eyes," said K. Murali mohan, Secretary of the Chennai
District Chess Association, who was a trainee himself.
Certificate for trainers will prove essential as sporting careers of young
chess players are placed in their hands by hopeful parents. It is going to
get popular in the days ahead.
The course was conducted by Senior Trainer and International Master Jovan
Petronic of Belgrade, Serbia and Peter Long of Malaysia in a very
professional manner. ever smiling FIDE Instructor Mr.Praful Zaveri
was the Course Co-ordinator
