The All India Chess Federation is proud that
one of its players, organizer and promoter of the game of chess, WING
COMMANDER J RAJENDRA, has been decorated with the VISHISHT SEVA MEDAL by
the President of India. The AICF congratulates him on this spectacular
recognition by the Government of India.
Wing Commander J Rajendra was granted Commission in the Indian Air Force
during Dec 1985 and in the course of over 22 years, the officer has served
the Country with utmost dedication. The officer has held various
prestigious staff and field appointments and is presently the Commanding
Officer of Headquarters Western Air Command (Unit) at Subroto Park, New
Delhi.
Wing Commander J Rajendra is a renowned chess player from Vijayawada. He was
the AP State Junior Champion in 1983 and has represented Nagarjuna
University, Andhra Pradesh, Indian Air Force and the Services in many
National level events. He is a great supporter of Indian Chess. He is the
live wire of AIR MSHL SUBROTO MUKERJEE MEMORIAL ALL INDIA OPEN
INTERNATIONAL FIDE RATED CHESS TOURNAMENT being held at Delhi.
For his outstanding leadership and dedication to duty, the officer has
been awarded Vishisht Seva Medal by the President of India on the Republic
Day, 2008. It has been a distinguished career and the officer was earlier
awarded commendation by the Vice Chief of the Air Staff during Jan 2001
and was also commended on two other occasions by the Chief of the Air
Staff during Jan 2004 and Oct 2005.
