Indians emerging sole leaders

Three categories have witnessed Indians emerging sole leaders and Indians do not figure in the leaders in both U18 sections and u8 girls group of the Asian Youth Chess Championship at Tehran, Iran. In all the remaining six categories, Indian players share the lead with players from other countries.

Ankit R. Rajpara in the U14 boys, Mahapatra Sidant in U10 boys and Rathore Sonakshi in the U12 girls sections are the sole leaders with a perfect score of 3/3. While Ankit defeated Pranav Shetty, Vidit Gujrati and Prasanna Rao drew the game between them to score 2.5 points.

Mahapatra Sidant is the sole leader in the U10 category, followed by Diptayan Ghosh and Nguen Ngoc Minh Tri of Vietnam with 2.5 points each. Mahapatra meets Ghosh in the fourth round. In the u12 girls section, Prayusha Bodda and Khademalshreih Sarasadat of Iran trail the leader Rathore Sonakshi with 2.5 points each. In the u18 boys category, Debashish Das with 2,5 points is closely behind the leader Tontigi Homayooon of Iran, P. Saravana Krishnan is on 2 points and R.A. Pradeep Kumar remained on 1 point, after two losses. Salem A.R. Saleh of UAE, a potential threat to Indians in the U16 group established half point lead over S.P. Sethuraman,, B. Adhiban and M. Shyam Sundar . In the crucial fourth round, Sethuraman faces Salem.

Shivern khosla defeated another Indian player Girish A. Koushik in the u12 category and Sayantan Das overwhelmed Kowsaru=ina Amir of Iran to share the lead with another Iran player Javanbakht Nima with 3 points. Shiven is scheduled to meet Nima and Sayantan Das is to cross swords against Girish in the fourth round. Y Grahesh and Nigmatov Ortik of Uzbekistan jointly lead the U8 group with 3 points each.

Pon N Krithika managed to win a bishop Vs knight ending to share the lead with Y. Hoang Thi Nhu of Vietnam in the U16 category for girls. Both have stretched the lead over their nearest rivals by one point. Bhakti Kulkarni and Niji are on 2 points. Second seeded R. Preethi had a hat trick of draws in as many rounds to languish at 1.5 points in the U18 section for girls. P. uthra held the top seed Muminova Nafisa of Iran to remain on second spot with 2.5 points, where the leader is jafari Golanz of Iran. Surprisingly 9 out of a total of 16 girls are leading with 2 points each in the U14 category on the distaff side. Padmini Rout recovered from her earlier lapses to secure a win over priyanka Rajakumari and returns to the top table in the fourth round. Ivana Maria Fartuda and M. Mahalakshmi, who have scored 3 points each are meeting each other in the fourth round of the U10 section for girls. In the U8 group, Savant Riya, the top seed is half a point behind the leader Abdumalik Zhansaya of Iran, who has got 3 points to her credit.
