World champion Viswanathan Anand did not get what he might have wanted from the white side as he played a 19-move draw with Peter Leko of Hungary in the tenth round of the Corus Chess Tournament at Wijk aan Zee on January 23.

Magnus Carlsen of Norway, 1990 born, sailed back into lead defeating Van Wely with the black pieces to reach 6.5/10. Levon Aronian drew to be in clear second position with 6 points. Anand, Kramnik, Ivanchuk, Adams, Radjabov are in the joint third position with 5.5 points. Three rounds remain to be played. Anand has to play Carlsen and Van Wely in successive black games and then white with Kramnik.

Harikrishna (5.5) had to sweat in a pawn down knight ending before making a draw against Sargissian. Humpy (4.5) had an extra knight and rook but Hou had rook and three pawns in the game they agreed to a draw.

In the Grand Master Group C, Negi is among the scorers after he beat Ruijgrok with the white pieces. Negi is half a point behind the leader with 6.5/10. He is tied for the second to fourth places.
