35th Parsvnath National Women Chess Championship
Tania and Kruttika share the lead
New Delhi (22/12/08) :- Top seed and local favourite International Master
Tania Sachdev cruised to the top of the table along with over night leader
Kruttika Nadig with 3.5 points in the ongoing 35th Parsvnath National
Women Chess Championship at Russian Centre for Science and Culture here on
today.
In the fifth round, playing black side of Ruy Lopez opening, Tania
defeated Pon N Krithika of Tamilnadu without much struggle. But overnight
leader Kruttika Nadig had a shade of luck to get half point against
Padmini Rout of Orissa. Playing with white pieces in Sicilian Defence,
Padmini had a commanding position in the game but could not capitalize the
advantage as Kruttika salvaged her pride by giving perpetual checks with
her queen.

with state mate Amrutha Mokal in just 22 moves while Soumya Swaminathan
had the same result against Women International Master Kiran Manisha

moves, Asian Junior Champion Mary Ann Gomes tried hard for a win from an
equal position and blundered in the end to give full point to Bhakti
