Humpy Plays At 2715

The second Ruy Lopez Tournament took place at Merida, Spain from April 4-13. Top seed Michael Adams of England, won the eight player Category 15 tournament with a 5.5/7 score on April 13.

World No.2 in women, Koneru Humpy of ONGC, Vijayawada scored plus two after losing one game to Adams to tie for the third place with 4.5/7. For someone with a start rating of 2612, Humpy will be gaining Elo as she played at 2715. Humpy is looking at doing well in the World Women's Championship this year. Earlier on April 2, she played to expectations at Kolkata and had zero rating change in the International Open there.

Final placings: 1 M. Adams (Eng) 5.5/7, 2 Zhang Pengxiang (Chn) 5, 3-4 G. Sargissian (Arm), Koneru Humpy (Ind) 4.5 each, 5 F. Caruana (Ita) 2.5, 6-8 Granda Zuniga (Per), Hou Yifan (Chn), Perez Candelario (Esp) 2 each.
