Tania Sachdev Wrests Sole Lead

Delhi student and National Women's Champion Tania Sachdev moved back into sole lead in the 12th Asian Women Chess Championship being played at Tehran in Iran. At the end of the eighth and penultimate round on Sep 10, Tania has six points from eight games and has her nose ahead in a crowded and closely contested event.

In the second place on 5.5 points are Nguyen Thi Thang An (Vie), Ruan Lufei (Chn) and Le Thanh Tu (Vie). Nisha Mohota of Oil India, Kolkata is a medal prospect with five points and shares the fifth place.

The results (round eight): Le Thanh Tu (Vie) drew Ruan Lufei (Chn), Tania Sachdev (Ind) bt Huang Qian (Chn), Nguyen Thi Thanh An (Vie) drew Nisha Mohota (Ind), Atousha Pourkashiyan (Iri) bt Eesha Karavade (Ind),Tan Zhongyi (Chn) bt Aarthie Ramaswamy (Ind), Swati Ghate (Ind) drew Shirin Navabi (Iri), Wang Xiaohui (Chn) drew Amruta Mokal (Ind).
